16v Oil pressure questions

Well while I wait for ignition parts for the 78 Rocco I decided to go for a
drive in the 88 16v. Coming home the oil pressure warning light starts
flashing....but no buzzer. I pulled over and check the oil level...still
dead on. So I drive home and sit in the car in the drive way to see when it
happens, etc. When at idle,...no light and no buzzer. When the car is
revved up,....I get the warning light but no buzzer. Don't the buzzer and
warning light go "hand in hand." Now I haven't walked out to the shed to
get the Bentley,...but I seem to remember a bit of this. The pressure
switches that send this warning are on the oil filter flange, yes? One is
like .3 bar and the other 1.8. The .3 is for low rpm (idle?) and can be
tested simulating a closed switch by grounding it. The 1.8 is a high*er*
pressure switch for something like above 1500-2000rpm. But it also gets it
signal from the distributor and ignition control unit. (I think?) If the
higher rpms don't supply enough pressure,....then the circuit stays open and
the warning sounds/flashes. Now I know I replaced these two when I rebuilt
the engine,..(about 1500 miles ago) but there seems to be more to this
problem than just the pressure switch,..if that is the problem. I say this
because the warning *sound* is not happening. I don't recall anything in
the book about trouble shooting this. Could this be a wire problem or maybe
a problem is the instrument cluster or both. ( I say that because I
noticed my turn signals work but the light in the cluster doesn't light up
anymore.)
Any ideas out there?
Thanks again, (more questions to come on the CIS problems once parts arrive
from Mark)
