Waterfest "triathlon" competition

Andrew, there are two routes that I'm considering for this event. Do I make
this an event for the masses who just run what they brung? That is, with
open enrollment and no particular qualifications other than running all
three events? Or, do I put the team recruitment in the hands of the tuners
and clubs themselves? The first route appeals to my "let's make motorsports
accessible to the average Joe" sensibilities. The second scenario could make
for better involvement from the industry people that may bankroll the event.
The level of program that I'm interested in putting together *will* take a
budget, after all.

The same rationale applies. I personally don't have any issue with a bunch
of rank amateurs competing. I'm sure, however, that if we get the tuner's
competitive juices flowing they'll want to include cars that best represent
them. If there are 10 teams of 5 cars each, for instance, and the tuners
really buy into this, then I'd consider limiting their entries to say... 7
teams. That could leave 3 teams of total privateers. Since the triathlon
concept requires street legality, it puts purpose-built drag and auto-x cars
at a disadvantage (or may eliminate them completely). I really don't think
that it'll take monster cars to be competitive.

If I promote this correctly, I should have to turn away hundreds of entries.
Again though, this is all in the conceptual stage. If there are a lot of
normal folks who'd like to take part in this -those that don't have the
hottest, most beautiful cars, or those who don't have great connections with
the elite tuners -then now is the time to voice your opinion. My intention
is to inspire Veedubbers to compete *in* their rides rather than just
aesthetics.
> Let us know, I'd love, love love to do an event like you mention.
That's what I like to hear! Keep the questions flowing. You're shaping what
should be a tremendous experience.
