Break open that Bentley young man- inside you will discover the answer
to your question, that YES you can and should make sure the standard
clutch cable is adjusted correctly. There is a way to test by seeing how
much free travel you have before the slack in the cable is taken up.

In the engine bay there is an adjustment portion on the end of the
cable, it includes a lock nut and be sure to adjust like 1/4 turn at a
time, no more. A little goes a long way.
