The Audi 3A engine was available in the Audi 80
from 88-91 (I think the last year was 91, could have been 92). I have heard that
the 5 cylinder will not fit, it is significantly larger. I am also doing the
Audi 3A swap, but I am putting it in a mk1. I have had the engine for about a
month now, and I am gathering parts. Should be a good swap, there are a lot of
reusable parts on the Audi engine, I am using the Audi head and intake manifold,
which will bolt up to my CIS fuel system (the Audi was CIS-E).
Good luck,
Todd

Subject: Engine Transplant....
Hello,
I have been looking for an engine transplant for the old tired
1.6L I have in my '82. I have gone over many options and decided a 16V
was too much work to convert fuel system, etc. (I am a bit lazy)
I would like a 2.0L and I have seem the Audi 3A engine should
drop in with the current CIS system with out any difficulty. Anyone know
what models/years this 4 cyl engine was produced in?
Anyone ever try to fit a 5 cyl in? Are they that much
longer?
