I still have mechanics tell me that the reinforcement under the floorpan is 
the frame! (very bad)
Anyway, other than the factory areas, the rear axle beam works well.  In the 
front, I have put jackstands under the control arm brackets.  I have seen 
"VW" mechanics do this too, and no harm comes from it.  VW's are very weak 
when it comes time to jack them up.
