Re: Vr6 GTI impressions

The iron block VR6's (before '00) are really heavy, and I always thought
that Jettas and Golfs with them feel really unbalanced. They are fast,
though. The GTI is probably faster than your Scirocco, but it's all pretty
much like Mike says, you feel it in different places. For any sceptics, I
highly recommend his suggested third gear up to 95 mph (on a race track of
course :) The VR6 just pulls like crazy all the way there. It's a great
engine, and now that they are making them out of aluminum with the
incredibly smooth drive-by-wire system (no more jerky rev limiter; no more
jerky transition out of decelleration cut-off, etc., etc.) they are really
loveable. Keep in mind that you also have the options of supercharging it
for about $3000 up to 340hp'ish.

sincerely;
Brian Haygood
