I have had  several modded, as well as stock VR6 cars, both OBD I and OBD
II. Yes OBD I (specifically 1992 distributor VR6 Corrado with DSR 256, TT
2.5" exhaust, GIAC chip, and P- FLO) seems faster. I also have a 1995 Cabrio
with a VR6 conversion, (OBD II out of a late '96 GLX), and it is definately
faster than my 2.0L 16v Scirocco. The Scirocco is quick, and shines in 2nd
and 3rd gears, and above 4500 rpm. Where the VR6 shine in my opinion is the
bottom end torque. Yes, the cars are heavier, but the torque on a well
tuned, healthy VR6 (stock or not) is hard to beat. The tranny being used
also makes a difference. I prefer the gearing of a Corrado VR6 tranny (CDM
code, I think). I am in the process of doing an OBD II VR6 swap into a CE
1991 Jetta Coupe. Using a 1997 GLX engine and management, and a 1992 Corrado
tranny. We'll see how this goes....
