Good idea Dave.  I left out of my 1st response that I usually use a pretty
big punch with a cut off flattened end to just smack the inner ball cage.
Turn the shaft 90-180 degrees and hit it again, turn and hit, turn and hit.
Will take some time, but it should eventually come off.
