Scirocco. I used a 3M Stripping Disc. You can buy them at your local
hardware store. They attach to the end of a drill, or other spinning
tool with a chuck. This is one of the most useful abrasives I've come

sandpaper, not a wire wheel, sort of some coarse fiberous stuff cemented

I can back him up on this, worked great when I stripped the foot
wells and trunk areas on my '77. Made short work of it all.
Of course, use eye, ear and breathing protection ("why am I sneezing black
goo?")
