Chris,
I did this with my '81 Rabbit - spliced it in. It is not that
difficult. For this to work, you MUST have the entire engine
management harness from the 16v - it's plug "D" on the back of the
16v fusebox.
I will dig up the wiring notes I have, a lot of which I give thanks
to Brian Honnold (Thanks, Brian!) for the help. E-mail me and remind
me.
