'80 S died, motor wanted

The 1.6L motor in my 80 S has finally given up.  I'm looking for a high
compression 1.8L out of a GTI.  Anyone have one for sale?  What engine
codes are the hi-comp engines.  Is it the head that makes it hi-comp or
the pistons?
Any help is appreciated.  Also interested in a close ratio tranny.
