This raises some comments:
-No it is not totally stupid.
-It depends hugely on your personality type,
appearance, people skills (incl. listening), tenacity
(tempered by people skills), drive to make $$).
-Here's a plus: VW is doing as well in the US as it
has in decades - there's a larger and more
enthusiastic customer base
-Here's a minus: there's uncertainty about the
economy, but it's looking better if W's tax plan
passes.
-Plus: being a VW nut, you're on a good knowledge
platform, more educated and enthusiastic

Question: who do you have to support on your current
income, and is it worth protecting? Successful sales
can earn you nice $$, not successful = no $$. Luckily
you're at the right age (27) to have a nice mix of
youth and trustworthiness. If you can dive in without
undue stress, do it, it'll be a personal learning
experience that is priceless.

BTW Prostitution is NOT the oldest profession, sales
is! (the sales process happens immediately before the
prostitution!!)
