Joe,
Don't know about what years Passats came with 16V's, but I'd be very curious
as to why the engine had to be rebuilt at 40K.
A VW engine if taken care of should last 200K or more between rebuilds.
I'd ask if the seller knows why it was rebuilt.

Did 95 Passats even come with 16vs?  He says it was rebuilt at 40k and has
