RE: kraftswerk = good.
I've
only bought something from them once and will never again. In the summer
of 1997 I bought a rebuilt stock transmission for my '87 16v. I too was
surprised to see it on my doorstep the next day. It even had a 12,000
miles or 12 month warranty. Then 16 months later and just over 17,000 miles my
transmission started making a weird sound. I thought it not good, when I
drained the oil and it had to many pieces of metal for
my tastes.
When I opened the transmission up to find and
hopefully fix the problem. I found that the pinion gear was missing half of a
couple teeth and chips out of many others. It had also ground the
case near where the pinion gear seats. The upper pinion
bearing was partially non-existent. I was surprised that the car was even
able to still move. The final drive had also suffered some tooth
damage. I can't speculate what was the initial cause of the problem, just
that the result was not good.
I only
have a couple pics scanned, here are the links if you want to check them
out:
Well
just thought I would share that with you all.
Happy
Driving.

Good people to deal with.
I ordered a 4K with a .71 5th gear (free swap!) monday and its already
here! They have a pretty cool deal. I paid about $800 for the
transmission, including the core and tax. It is shipped to you for
free, you throw the old one in the box and tell them to send a UPS guy.
Then apparently they will send me a check for $150. The lady on the
phone was really nice and helpful especially when my cool check card reached
its $700 daily limit. Now for the clutch and flywheel.
