I don't know too much about VT (other than Bob Newhart) but, here in FL, on the first offence, you have the option to take a 'defensive driving' class to clear the points, the fine sticks though. You can always try to fight it. Check your state's web pages concerning the "Administrative Code" regulating those laws governing speeding tickets and the requirements that cops have to meet for a ticket to stick. You might be surprised. There are certain things like having the detection device certified every so often, if they can't provide proof of that, you walk.

I just got a $193.00 speeding ticket.
89mph in a 65mph
  
    When I go to court next month and pled guilty is there any way I can have the fine reduced and/or lower the points? I have never had a ticket before.
