Fuel Gauge Q's For Mk.1 Owners
Question to all Mk.1 Scirocco owners:
How linear are your fuel gauges?
How much fuel do you have left @ "1/4" and where the reserve (red)
starts?
I'm using a Mk.2 16V cluster on my '79, and at the halfway mark, I only
have ~3 gallons left.
It shows full for a while, and then it slowly goes to half full, and then
it goes pretty quickly to empty. I found this out the hard way at the 13A
exit on 301/50 on our way to Johnson City, TN, after that, I stopped for
fuel when I got to the halfway mark, and each time it was right around 7
1/2 gallons.
With a 10 1/2 gallon tank, I figured it would be closer to 5 gallons at
the halfway mark...
I think the 16V Scirocco, ('84 1/2 and up), fuel sending unit might have
a different resistance window, since it has a larger tank and a different
fuel sending unit.
Is the Digifiz the only A1 cluster to have a reserve warning light?
I'd be happy to trade in the upshift light for a reserve warning
light...8^)
Thanks for any input and happy New Year to all!
