That's almost where I'm at with my old girl. she just won't go for me! I've
tried almost everything tha I can think of. I've cleaned out the entire fuel
system and replaced as many parts as I have money for, and I jsut can't make
my 'roc run warm! it has no problem at all with the cold starts, just the
warm ones! If I sart it cold, it runs fine. great in fact. but when the temp
gets to the normal range, it just doesn't want to go anymore. with help from
the father in law I've had it running for a while tonight, the fan even came
on, twice! But the whole while we had the mixture set so rich it was blowing
black from the tail pipe. nd like an idiot, I decided that this will not do.
and leaned it out a little. when I did the idle jumpped and we rapidly
adjusted that to match the new mixture setting, and while we were in the
middle of patting each other on the back for a job well done, we hear this
eerie silence coming from the engine bay. The thing had died. the new fuel
pump I bought today stayed on for a few seconds as if to mock us, and with
the ensuing attempts to re-start my beloved, I managed to drain the battery
of all remenants of life. a jump start an hour later brought that happy
sound back into my life, but that was cut short by the constant problem
plagueing me recently, it got warm. anyone want a '81 scirocco that doesn't
run? my wife sure doesn't!
