RE: Timing
I doubt you would have a lot of success adjusting the ignition timing to
make up for the fact that your valve timing is off a bit. It's not always
easy, but if you're careful you can get the timing belt correct on the first
go. You just need to be a little bit patient and take up most of the slack in
the belt by hand before you adjust the idler wheel to make sure everything
stays aligned.
