Sounds like it might be off a tooth or 2...

I'd verify all the timing marks, including the distributor, and then set
the timing with a timing light.

Not related to the poorly running, but you might want to pull the O2
sensor out of the manifold, and use an O2 plug, since they obstruct the
exhaust passage a little.
