Boy, these cars...
Anyways, got home last night, troubleshot for like an hour, nothing.  I had
decent connectivity all the way across the windows, good connections in the
cables down the C pillar, 12V at the connector by the drivers side tail
light, good ground, it was driving me nuts.  So stopped, had a beer, and
thought about things.  Then I noticed a really crappy crimped connection in
the hot wire right by the hatch hinge.  Looking more closely, I noticed that
all the wires on both sides had been cut and recrimped, probably because the
hatch had been off in its previous life.  (stupid PO)
Well, anyways, this crappy crimp was good enough that when the hatch was
open, so I could test it, the connection was made.  When the hatch closed,
the wire pulled on the crimp, and opened the circuit.  Needless to say, 5
minutes with a wire crimper and it was fixed.

I must really like this car to put up with it doing this kinda crap to
me....
