I've found the best way to find rust in the floor is to
poke at it with a screwdriver, even where it doesn't look
like there's any rust.  Especially check the area just
ahead of the rear axle beam attchment points.

D'OH!  Mk 1 dashes seem to be even more prone to cracking
than the Mk 2.  You are *very* lucky.  (Well, I still have
an uncracked dash in my basement that I've been saving....)
