Re: Mr. Miagi Balance... Wife&Baby Vs. Scirocco

I don't know if anyone else out there is ahead of me but I can give you some
GREAT help in this area. I have been married for almost 10 years, have
three wonderful kids, one on the way, my wife stays home with the kids and I
make a grand total of around $2500 a month (if I show up for work). How the
heck do I do it? Well, we live in a mobile home that is rebuilt extensively
with a deck, carports, shed, additions, fenced yard and room for parting out
cars or working on cars. Usually all of my "job" money goes to bills (rent,
food, insurance, gas, van payment, student loan, etc) and the stuff I make
on the side I get to spend on toy stuff. Sometimes I will spend money out
of my check but a lot of my extra money has gone to bills also. BUT, I
would have to say that my biggest savings are in swappin' and tradin'!! I
can find awesome deals on stuff then turn around and trade or sell it again
or install on someones car and make a profit and use the extra or the parts
that I traded for for my own car. Another BIG BIG advantage is being
mechanically inclined. I have done ALOT of work to this dump we live in to
make it liveable (we only pay $400 a month with cable and sewar and water
paid) and work on everything from the Chrysler Town & Country to fixing the
broken off steering wheel on the Barbie Vet. Oh, and don't be so proud to
not shop at Goodwill or Garage sales once in a while, I will find things
that actually sell on Ebay for big profits and both of those!! But, you
need to know what to look for (books, music, tools, toys, etc.). There are
a lot of ways to make money that isn't followed closely by the Government
yet so make sure you take advantage of them if you can (selling on auction
sites, sell parts once in a while to friends or listers, work on cars if you
can, OR do what you know on the side for a few bucks!! I once installed a
hard drive in someone's computer for $150!!! It took me about an hour!!
And if you want more info look up on ebay or amazon or someplace for books
on living on a budget. Plus, if you don't make a gob of money and have a
kid or two or three the government is REALLY nice to you. I haven't paid
much taxes in the last 4 years!! Of course I don't get paid interest on the
money I LOAN to the government but it is better than NOT getting it back!!
I didn't get the $300 check or whatever it was but over the last 3 or 4
years my income tax returns have added up to about 12grand!!

You don't have to have gobs of money to be happy, just enough is fine for
me. My biggest priority on earth is my family so as long as they are
healthy and happy, so am I. Having the fastest car in Olympia is a
considered a benefit to me or maybe even a reward for the work I put into my
family. I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

I hope this helps and anyone has any specific questions LMK, my wife is VERY
good at cutting corners also.
