Reverse gear sounds funny

Ok, one other thing thats been bothering me. I didn't really pay any
attention to it before, mostly because I wasn't sure what sounds were normal
for this car. But I was thinking that the reverse gear sounds kind of odd. A
lot of 'whrrrrr' to it, and when I shift to reverse, it gives a bit of a
clunk type sound. Are all the other problems I have with my car making me
paranoid? Or should reverse gear be a bit less noisy?
