Some odd findings..

Hey all,
  As some may recall, my car has had some running issues lately, of which I
attributed to wet belts, and off'd ignition timing.  But today upon further
inspection, it seems as if there is a rather large vacuum leak noise coming
from somewhere near the brake booster..Any ideas ?  Also, I have a question
about the module that sits right next to the intake manifold on the driver's
side (Cold weather modulator perhaps ?) and has a nice vacuum line going to
the intake boot.  What is it ?  When's it supposed to work ?  It seems as if
it pulses with a high frequency vibration while the engine is on (even when
hot), and continues to do so for some time after the engine is turned off.

Any help is appreciated...
