Got it backwards dude. Rich running makes it start better when cold. Lower
fuel mileage.
Lean running will cause hard starting cold as air is more dense when cold
and requires more fuel for efficient combustion.
Check your coolant temp sensor resistance. Also your injector seals could be
leaking. Hopefully by now you have checked out the cold start valve
situation and have answers.
