I agree with your mechanic.  Although I have no firsthand exp with poly, I
did consider them at one point.  Unless you are doing this on a dedicated
autocross car, you will notice a huge difference just by replacing all your
mounts with fresh rubber.  Try the Diesel Rabbit motor mounts.
