Re: Brake Pads
In my other so-called life ;) there have been many illustrious threads on
the merits of pad X and rotor Y.
Hawk Blues retain the honor of being great dedicated track pads but not
liveable on the street - too loud, too dirty, stop lousy when cold
I have been using Ferodo pads in my 16V, and in previous VWs and I like them
a lot for all around use, although they tend toward the short end of
life-span.
Another good compromise are Porterfield P4S <-- the 'S' is important. These
are nominally street pads, that work well cold. This is typically better in
an AutoX environment where you run short sessions and don't have a lot of
time to build heat up prior to your run. I use these in my 'other' car and
am very happy. Less dust that with OEM Jurid pads, to boot.

Subject: Brake Pads
I am considering 2 kinds of front brake pads. The first are Hawk brand
"blue" series brake pads. The second would be Ferodos. Any thoughts on
which might be a better application with ATE powerdisc (slotted) 10.1"
front rotors? Has anybody used either of these? Good experiences / bad
experiences? The Hawk brand are 40 bucks more, but seem to be a heavier
duty pad, more for racing and auto-x. Any thoughts?
