I used to work for a Mazda dealership back in the late 80's when these
things came and went.  I'm proud to say I sold the only two we ever
received.

These were/are awesome little cars, incredibly well-balanced.  It was just
damn difficult to convince folks that they should pay $16.5K for something
that looked like the cheapest car we sold (of course, the biplane rear
spoiler should've tipped them off that something was different!).

We took one out to a local autocross one rainy Saturday morning, and
promptly embarrased the bejesus out of the assembled 944s and such.

If you can get a solid one for $1800, I'd say jump all over it.
