Intermittent odometer working

Ok, So I know this has come up before, and I know the answer is out there
somewhere(checked the scirocco.org FAQ too).  So if someone could tell me
if there is a website that has odometer repair tips on it just tell me
rather than wasting space here, unless I am wrong and there isn't a site.
Anyway, it works for a few miles, and then stops for a few.  This week with
about 230 ish miles, the odometer reads about 60 something.
