<non rocc> '84 GLI engine swap done
List,
Whell, it took me and a friend 2 days to completely swap out the old 190k
1.8 with a bad cyl for the good solid 100k 1.8 from my '84 GTI... I even
put the lower miledge GTI tranny in with the better of the 2 clutches. I
got everything done and the car fired right up after a few cranks...... but
allas, it STILL runs like shit!!!!!!! The gti that was the donor car was
runnign 100% perfict when it was dissassembeld...The GLI is now the GTI with
a different body...i used all the fuel injection and everything.
The only thing that didn't work out was the exaust, the stupid little clamps
that hold the downpipe to the manafold must be too tired cause it is leaking
pretty bad there. whith the o2 sensor plugged in it idles really high, but
if i unplug th o2 the idle drops and it runs alot worse than with the bad
engine! Im hoping that once i get the exaust hooked up right that
everythign will be fine and dandy, but im not shure.....any suggestions?
