Re: rotor and brake pads, 16v



Jorel,
         Yep, the front rotors and pads are quite straightforward.

         The "locator screw" as you call it is just that -- to hold the 
rotor in place while you reinstall the caliper and then the wheel.  No 
biggie if you don't use it, but it makes your life easier.

         I was only able to get mine off with an impact screwdriver.  Like 
$12 from Sears -- just a screwdriver with a thick handle that you can smack 
really hard with a hammer.  When you smack it, it torques the screw 
counterclockwise... so that combined with the impact of hitting it and the 
forward thrust to make sure it doesn't strip, it makes getting things like 
that out a whole lot easier.

         Don't forget to use anti-squeal compound on the back of the pad!
