76k on the ODO and it's an 83? Hmmmmm. MOT = it hasn't been on the road?
Is it BLUE in color? Can't yet find FB5Y as a paint code.

the UK, right? Jettas of the era have the same issues (AFAIK) as Golfs
and Sciroccos for that matter; electrical gremlins caused by poor
contacts (esp over this amount of time), suspension bits are prob.
crumbly (don't forget to replace the shock mounts and the bushings too),
Rust in the lower panels & around the rear axle points (might want to
renew any undercoating after a clean up and POR-15 application) etc.
Upper and lower front strut reinforcements, electrical lube on all
grounds and spade contacts, replace ALL fluids inc. brake, oil, coolant,
transaxle, etc.
I'd say it could just use some TLC from stem to stern and drive in a
spirited manner when ever safe to do so.
