Paul,

There is a kid here in VT who drives a rocco, but is not on the list.. He 
just finished a 16v conversion into his mk1 Jetta and he did exactly this to 
get rid of the ac.. it DOES work.. all  he did, i think, was to cut off the 
upper extension of the stock 16v rocco ac bracket where the ac pump bolts 
to, and maybee drilled anohter hole somewhere.. but basiclly the altinator 
stayes right where it always was i believe.. but i havent seen it in a 
while.. if ya want i will take a closer look at this car the next time im 
over there and let ya know what i find..he is kinda a prick, and wont tell 
me anything he does, but i probably can look and figure it out for myself ; 
)
