I second Jason's suggestion. I put used euro bumpers on my car and I had to
use a lubricant to get the strip in. But I basically just tucked one end in
and kept working it with my thumb. I used an plastic protectant as the
lubricant.

Naah, no hammer needed. Stick one end in the hole at the end and work the
rubber strip in with your thumb. Works great, no paint chips...
