RE: MK1 Ragtop... sources?

According to various sources there were less than 2500 MkI's sold between 1978 and 1981 with that dealer installed top.
 
I have heard this from two long time dealer employees and the guys at Sunroof Performers "thought" that sounded about right.

I live in Washington....I see them all the time in the Seattle area. Last
time I saw one was sunday, in a parking lot. That was one thing I was trying
to avoid when buying a Scirocco as it was like every one I looked at or heard
about had that top.
