*sigh* another hard starting problem...

This has probably been beat down to death already. but man once my engine
cools down or if it's cold. I cannot start it without putting my foot on the
pedal and once i get it started, i can't let off the pedal and have the
engine stay on. once it warms up enough for my foot to come off. the engine
is like a teeter totter.. it'll rev high, then it'll drop. but once the
engine warms up, the car is perfectly fine. I did all the usual. Checked for
vaccum leaks, didn't find any.i played around with the mixture. that helped
a little bit. when i first got my car all together and started it, it
started without a problem whatsoever. now this.. any suggestions?
