I think you and I have the same problem; clutchrod push through. :( I
did just what you did, and I could pull the bearing back by itself but
the pushrod would not.
It's possible though that the clutch and/or pressure plate has broken
it's internals (those finger things) and needs replacing. :( :(
I have a set of clutch rebuild stuff in the mail from Potter, don't
forget to replace seals if you will be in there anyway. Good can come
from it, I assure you. :]
