Re: Now a friend with BIG 16V problems
I'll second Ewan's reply. When I replaced mine at 78k, the po had never
done so. Had to crush the old one with pliers to remove it. The new Bosch
rotor was a very tight fit. I didn't use glue and haven't had any related
problems even with a shaft seal leaking oil. As tight as the fit was, it was
hard just to get the new rotor on as far as it should have gone even after
cleaning all the glue residue from the shaft.

Never heard of doing that! The rotor should be a tight enough push fit
without bothering with glue or anything like that.
One thing which is worth mentioning is that is is easy to put the rotor on
without pushing it fully home - if the slot in the shaft isn't lined-up
correctly with the key in the rotor shaft then the rotor will sit too high
and chew the cap - I've done that one before.
