Re: 1st gear troubles + new questions

****(FYI) In First gear, like Reverse, all the syncros stop, so to shift into
first the rotation of the tranny and the engine must be within a certain range to
which each other is a variable. at idle when the tranny is at a stand still, both
are within range, but as one increases and the other is not in respective range,
shifting into first is not possible, (with out obviouse seriouse distruction ).
However, with this in mind as you are coming to a slow roll prior to stoping, if
you rev the engine enough so that the Rpm's are within range of the rotating
tranny, you will be able to shift into first.
This is very helpfull if you are neck to neck with someone who you intend to
smoke, as you both roll into the stop light , before you completely stop the
light turns green. If you are quick enough, and can get it into first. You will
take off as your aponent bogs out in second.
Note: This is how it has been explained to me, by what I consider a reliable
source. I by no means claim to be an expert on Transmitions.
