Re: (Non Roc) Harlequin Golf Sighting
There was a 1997 Golf III Harlequin on a local lot here in Missouri, sat
untouched for about 6 months.
I am friendly with one of the salesmen and asked him to give me a shot at it
before they sent it back to auction. He said OK, I offered $4000, they
decided to take their chances at the auction. And brought the car back with
them, no bid at the Kansas City Auto Auction.
They ended up doing a promotional with a local car stereo place, they got
advertising and discounted stereos to put in cars they sell, the stereo
place got a free car he packed full of ICE...
Still see it occasionally at local car shows and promotional events, gets a
lot of attention though apparently no one wants to buy.
Anybody know what wheels they were supposed to come with? I would figure
Orlandos, but this car was on crappy Elite 5-stars.
cheers,
tiAn
stuff...

I was a year or two ago when they did the same thing with the MK4 polo, in
the UK. I've only seen a couple of them so they must have been pretty rare.
VW probably had such a good laugh selling them that they thought they'd
resurrect the scam in America. I'd be interested to know how easy it would
be to sell one of those a few years down the line!
