Good going...now change it again at 500 miles.

After 500 miles, I would continue keeping it around 3500 RPM's while
slowly taking it up to 4500 RPM's every once in a while.

 and go for 7000+ RPM's only after I've hit 1,000

I wouldn't run it up to 7000 RPM's until after 3000 miles. At that time
you should consider synthetic oil.

Be sure you don't keep a constant RPM like on a long trip. Always better
safe than sorry.
