New engine break-in etiquette

Hey everyone,

Now that I have my 2 liter 16V running, I wanted to get some feedback from 
those of you in the know about the rules of breaking in a motor.

So far I've put nearly 300 miles on the motor and I've kept it under 3500 
RPM's. I changed the oil at 100 miles, too.

What I'd relly like to know is how high I can wind this baby up and when I 
can do it. I'm thinking that I'll start hitting 5000 RPM's once I get 500 
miles on the motor, and go for 7000+ RPM's only after I've hit 1,000 miles.

Does that sound like a good break in schedule?
