A recurved distributor is one that has been modified such that the advance 
mechanism starts at a different point of your engine RPM and may or may not 
follow the same rate of advance than the factory setting.  This is done 
through either changing of the internal springs, changing the weights or some 
combination of both.  Sometimes it involves modifying/changing the vacuum 
hookups too. The end results is power/torque comes on at a different point in 
your RPM range. And your mileage WILL vary. ;-)
