Re: Injector Cleaner
My opinion probably isn't a popular one BUT, I did research on bottled
injector cleaners and the top two were Red Line and Techron, in that
order. All others (I checked) simply raised the running temps in an
effort to 'burn' the carbon build up away. The Red Line is a little
harder to get but worth it. I used the Techron one and it did a good job,
so I decided to try some of the 93oct Chevron gas. I don't know if it was
a bad batch or what but I will stick with Amoco white from now on.
!!!!!NOTE: YOU MUST CHANCE YOUR FILTER WHEN THE TREATED TANK HAS CYCLED
THROUGH!!!!! The detergents in the cleaners can damage the filter
element, eating away at it thus eliminating ANY filtering properties. As
for the dosage, I would play it safe and run 8-10 gallons when using ONE
bottle. Note: many injector/fuel system cleaners contain an octane
booster that gives the impression of more power and better go. Don't be
fooled and don't get hooked on them. A good rule is to run the best gas
you can find. If you do, the likelihood of fuel system problems drop
significantly.
Hope this helps,
Eric Ellis
