I guess I'd like to hear why you hate the SP8000 so much.  I just bought a
set based on the good things I've heard about them on this list.  Plus
they're one of the only tires available in a 195/55-14.  I haven't gotten
them yet, and my car still doesn't have a motor in it, but I'm looking
forward to them when my Scirocco is ready to roll.  BTW, I have had D60's
and they weren't bad.  Certainly not a performance tire, but they took
everything I could throw at them with a Jetta diesel.
