It is possible to replace struts this way...Although I
wouldn't do it.  It's a great idea on getting the
spring out, but instalation is a little more
dangerous.  Imagine, you're trying to seat the spring
in the perch, line up the piston with the strut
bearing adn lower the car all at the same time... You
could have a friend lower the car to make the job
easier, just make sure they dont lower the car too
fast:)
