Re: Performance figures - 1.7 vs. 1.8

It is not so easy to answer your question.
If it were my car I would first ask myself some questions.
What are you going to do with the car Doug?
Do you want to pay the rent? How much is this car worth?
How long will I keep it? OK I think I will keep it 2 years...
If you are going to race auto-x put the JH in the 82.
The JH is the best FSP motor you can race with.
OK what if you don't want to race FSP then what?
If you want 16v power with out the DOHC put in a 8v 2.0
and up the compression. If you want a MK2 16v just buy
one. Oh yea I have one. OK it is going to be a show
car so I will put a VR6 in it. I hope this helps.

The 1.7 is not that good. I have one and it is poor on power.
I hope I can find a Golf diesel to put my 1.7 in to.
Mine is strong but not on power. Mine is in my MK1.
I would never want the 1.7 in the MK2. So I say make the change
but "what is the goal?"
