vacuum leak check

We discussed this a few weeks ago, but my Juno crashed and I lost all of
my saved messages.  I remember someone saying that a good way to check
for leaks is to spray carb cleaner in the engine compartment and if you
get near a leak, the car stalls.  Is this correct?
