This is the way the A2 strut bearings are held on. You can buy a special 
tool for it, or make your own. I used a 1/2" drive 13mm deep socket (I 
think, just whatever will fit) and took my angle grinder and ground away 
metal until I was left with 2 "tabs" that fit. This was 1 year ago so the 
details are a bit fuzzy.

Any manual should detail the procedure.
