Attn MkI 16V owners-a question

Did any of you have a problem fitting in the fan shroud on your radiator?
I didn't put mine in yet, but it looks like it isn't going to want to fit;
Like the end where the plug is will be halfway over the transaxle.  jsut
seems way to tight.  Anyone????
